New Early Career Academy Journal Club episode now online!
This time, we've invited Ditte Smed Kornum from Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus University and Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus.
Ditte is first author of the article 'Transcutaneous vagal nerve stimulation for treating gastrointestinal symptoms in individuals with diabetes: a randomised, double-blind, sham-controlled, multicentre trial', recently published in Diabetologia, and she talked us through the trial results.
We also took the opportunity to learn more about Ditte's interesting career path, from clinical care to research and maybe back to the clinic in the future? Well, watch and find out yourself.
Thank you Ditte for taking the time and sharing your research with us.
The EASD Early Career Academy
The EASD Early Career Academy is an initiative to support, train, mentor, and create opportunities for scientists, clinicians, and students who are at an early or intermediate stage of their career, with an interest in diabetes research and/or clinical practice.
Its core objective is to provide unique opportunities for development, a platform for exchange of knowledge and experience, peer-support, and interaction with the wider EASD community.
Through these activities it will support and motivate early-career researchers and clinicians in the field of diabetes to become the future leaders that pursue excellence in diabetes care and research.
The EASD Early Career Academy stands for the highest research standards and open science.
The EASD Early Career Academy will provide fellows with the SCOPE for innovation and development.

Launch of the EASD Early Career Academy at the EASD Annual Meeting in Stockholm
The interest in the launch was overwhelming and though we could not accommodate all the (>1200) interested people this year, we welcomed up to 100 early-career researchers and clinicians in the EASD Member Lounge.
Attendees first heard about the broad mission of the Academy and then heard career talks from two very inspirational leaders in the field; Professor Michael Nauck and Professor Juleen Zierath, who shared advice and anecdotes. Afterwards, there was time for networking over drinks and canapes.
Please find some impressions from the event here.
